Hi there. My dogs and I play at agility, flyball, skijoring, rally-o, and a wee bit of tracking on the side. I keep notes on how things are going and figured why not share them on a blog, since I enjoy reading other people's dogsport blogs. Walter's agility blog doubles as my general blog, so if you're new to Mutts and a Klutz that's probably a good place to start. Without further ado, here are my dogs and their blogs.

This is Lucy:

And these are her blogs:

Lucy is a hound mix adopted from the pound in May 2004, when she was about one year old. At the time I had no idea about the existence of the dogsport world so was just looking for a nice dog to share my home with. That she certainly is, plus she has turned out to be a really fun and willing training partner. She's got a whole lot of scenthound in her, mixed with maybe lab, german shepherd (which I doubt), and/or [your best guess here]. She's the kind of dog who'll do anything for a treat and will be your new best friend if you give her even the tiniest crumb of anything edible. Her "first life" is a mystery, but children were probably a part of her first family as she adores kids. It's not clear why she ended up at the pound since she's a delightful dog to live with, but quite likely her wandering hound nose had something to do with it. In a nutshell, Lucy is good-natured, people-loving, sensitive, a total chowhound, and a Chaser of Squirrels.

This is Walter:

And these are his blogs:

Walter was one of ten puppies born to B.A.R.K. rescue dog Indy in the summer of 2004. Indy was found as a stray and gave birth soon after arriving at her foster home. No one's quite sure of her precise breed mix and guesses have ranged from boxer to lab to malinois to german shepherd to husky and more. At the time of adopting Walter, I still had no inkling about the wide world of dogsports that awaited us so I was just looking for a second dog so Lucy could have a canine housemate. When I first met puppy Walter he was a teeny bland-coloured lad, so it was a surprise to see him grow into such a fine-looking dog. He inherited his mother's lovely colouring (but definitely not her petite build) and his dad must have been a german shepherd who passed along his noble good looks and typical german shepherd personality. Adjectives that describe Walter include serious (but with a playful side), vigilant, oh yes definitely whiny, and of course very loyal. Oh and true to the GSD breed, he sheds only once a year, for 365 days.
